Right from its almost psych grunge heavy guitar start, three piece Nottingham based Marvin’s Revenge give me a hard hitting surf punk vibe, with new release (October 23) Jack (Let Go Of The Door).

I recall reviewing some of Marvin’s Revenge’s looser, but still banging heavy earlier tracks, and really thinking they had good promise.

Those Marvin marvels are not letting my prediction down, this is a tighter, more considered band, their influences are less easy to puzzle through, but they haven’t left their taste for the hard uncompromising stuff behind. This is music to channel a big mood into. It’s cathartic release time baby.
Jack (Let Go Of The Door) is a mosh pit ready track where you can completely lose yourself in those deep and almost ominous riffs and beats. The band (Luke Eaton (bass, vocals), Job Gregory (drums) and Oliver Sammels-Moore (Guitar) are one of those bands that have grown and moved together from their home town and into Nottingham, and you can often tell those bands who have spent years together – I’m sure these guys could string a tune together in their sleep and be beat perfect.

From the deep hard vocals of Luke, the pulsing exacting hard working drums of Job, and some handy smart guitar from Oliver which shows much more than a standard pedigree, and a lyric which hints towards an oblique drug trip horror, this is a class tune.
Fans of the likes of Pixies, The Cramps, Fugazi, The Jesus Lizard and Idles would feel they could kick off their Converse and feel at home here.

Jack (Let Go Of The Door) is the opening track of the band’s new EP “VR Explosive” out on 6th November. Can’t wait for this one as Marvin’s Revenge take it to a new level.
