(alright) okay -Boyz Noize

You never quite know what you are going to get with an alright (okay) new track. To paraphrase and twist Forrest Gump a little, all you need to know is each time it’s gonna be a great chocolate.

May 24 release Boyz Noize is no exception. The Liverpool lads are launching this single as a new era of a garage rock sound for them, and its a smoky, brooding monster from the off, before leading to a frantic, manic piece of pure beautiful noize.

With a song title like Boyz Noize, the song seems to more offer a homage to the pure exhilaration of making and creating sound. The song and the song title came through at an early jam session and I can picture the in-joke.

Boyz Noize offers a more focussed, high quality, complex sound for alright (okay), but without leaving the nice quirky spontaneity and pure garage sound of the earlier tracks behind.

This feels more controlled chaos. Fans of the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and the Velvet Underground will love the brittle uncompromising and jaunty feel of Boyz Noize, but despite my referencing US bands, alright (okay) maintain a jangly Britishness.

I place a high expectation on alright (okay) as I know the potential that exists. I’m excited for the future of the band on the basis of Boyz Noize, and think their live shows now will be up there with the best to remember.

alright (okay) play a release party (for the single, not prison) on May 17th at Liverpool Quarry. You know what you need to do.
