Silverfish – Serpentine

Leeds based Silverfish are firing on all cylinders with their third single release Serpentine.

The band Silverfish are Tom Gannon (vocals), George Bolger (drums), Oliver Mullan (Lead Guitar) and Ben Norton (Bass and Synths) and have been developing sonic landscapes and exploring deep emotion since they formed 3 years ago.

With Serpentine, we are really getting a feel for the dna of this band Silverfish – high quality indie pop, nice jangly guitars and bright thoughtful lyrics.

Serpentine tucks in very nicely with its predecessors; there’s a bit of a feel for the melody and punch of Foals with a nice deft melody, there’s a serious quality to the tune, and there is a pleasing playful punch to the ribs along the way.

The song itself is about that weird mix of the urgent spontaneity of lust and the more serious business of forging a more everyday relationship, and perhaps that feeling of yielding to other viewpoints. The serpentine gives imagery to that meandering course in emotion.

Catch Silverfish dispensing some funky bass riffs, complementary guitar hooks, synth lines and strong emotion in front of your very eyes, with what will be a lively homecoming gig at Oporto Leeds on 30 October, and after a hop skip and jump over the pennines to 33 Oldham Street in Manny on 9 November.
