I love a band with an element of surprise and Chesterfield’s Alpaca Factory have blended something very special together with their latest single You’re Obsessed.
There are times in your life where you feel so alive you could flick out your fingers and they will shoot out beads of fire. The guitars on this track really are that sizzling hot. The track to my ear has something of Thin White Duke era David Bowie to it; it has a huge funk backbone.
You’re Obsessed is a song about meltdown; the lyrics focus on a raving man obsessing over someone. There is a paranoid monologue, a complete breakdown and then some blessed smooth release; all deftly described and delivered in less than 3 minutes. It’s one of the things in 2020 that can leave you breathless; but this time in a good way.
Alpaca Factory had grand ambitions for You’re Obsessed and the musical tools to execute it perfectly. The band, Rebecca Church (Drums), Tom Gannon (Vocals/Guitar), James Vardy (Guitar), and Jonathan Vardy (Bass) credit producer Chris G Wilkinson for helping them to nail this track and the song has some very different phases to it, but it blends together seamlessly.
On this showing I have a new found respect for Alpaca Factory and they have done the biz with this track by moving their music onto a whole new level and making the future exciting. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
